Mixed Team Competition – HS 132

Team Canada consisting of Taylor Henrich, Dusty Korek, Atusko Tanaka and Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes finished the Mixed Team competition in a solid 5th place with 869.2 points.  The Slovenian team in 4th were seven points ahead of the Canadians with 876.2 and a further six points ahead was the French team in 3rd with 880.2 points.  After another near miss at the podium the bright spots of the day for the Canadians were Mackenzie’s first jump of 134.0 metres that was the second longest jump of the competition and Atsuko’s two jumps of 124.0 and 121.5 metres and 234.0 points which was good enough for the 4th best in the women’s field.

Women – HS 96

With the injury to Alexandra earlier in the week Atsuko Tanaka and Taylor Henrich were the lone Canadians in the field of 47 competitors.  Atsuko had a solid result placing 11th with jumps of 94.0 and 90.5 metres respectively.  Taylor Henrich scored more World Cup points in her quest for Sochi with a 30th place finish, jumps of 85.5 and 83 metres.  The eventual winner of the competition was Slovenia’s Ema Klinec, followed by Sarah Hendrickson of  the US and Yuki Ito of Japan.  The Canadian women now head back to Calgary for a couple week break before heading over to Russia and Kazakhstan for the last four Grand Prix of the season in the middle of September.

Men – HS 132

Mackenzie carried over his great form from the team competition to the individual event.  After a first round jump of 120.5 metres he was sitting in 25th place, he followed it up with an impressive 2nd round jump of 129.0 metres, 4th longest of the competition and 2nd longest of the round.  Mackenzie held the lead for roughly ten jumpers and vaulted from 25th to 14th in the final standings, one place ahead of legend Janne Ahonen.
Dusty Korek in his 3rd career Grand Prix failed to qualify for the event.

The men then traveled to Einsiedeln Switzerland were qualifying took place today, Mackenzie was 35th and Dusty ended up 59th.
