Competing in the final Grand Prix of the season in
Almaty, Kazakhstan Tanaka claimed the final podium position with two jumps of 93
metres and 216.4 points to take her first ever Grand Prix podium. Taylor Henrich, the other Canadian competitor
also had a strong day finishing 7th, also a personal best. The competition was won by Sara Takanashi of
Japan (224.7 points), second place went to Katja Pozun of Slovenia (222.0
points). Tanaka finished 4th
in the overall Grand Prix standings.
Tanaka: "My jumps today felt a lot better than
yesterday. I jumped pretty well during the whole summer. This podium result is
a huge boost for my self-confidence. I hope that the preparation for the winter
and the Olympics go as well as the summer."
