PRETORIUS WINS IN HINTERZARTEN!

Alexandra Pretorius again started the Grand Prix season with a victory! This time the victory came in Hinterzarten Germany, with jumps of 103.5 and 102.5 metres and total of 265.5 points, 5 points ahead of last year’s overall World Cup winner Sara Takanashi who was the runner up, Katja Pozun of Slovenia was third.  Tough break for Atsuko Tanaka she was sitting 6th after the first round and unfortunately had some bad luck with her equipment on the second jump and ended up 22nd.  Taylor Henrich had a solid result placing 21st, collecting valuable points.

Congratulations to Alexandra and coach Gregor!

It was also a strong day for the Canadian men as both athletes qualified for Sunday's competition.  Mackenzie Boyd-Clowes finished qualification in a solid 11th place with a jump of 103 metres, the 9th longest of the round.  A big congratulations to Dusty Korek who qualified for his first Grand Prix start, Dusty had a solid jump of 97.5 metres which qualified him for Sunday ahead of some big name Norwegians.  In other news Janne Ahonen made his comeback debut and the 36 year old did not disappoint finishing qualifying tied for third place with a jump of 106.5 metres.
